Character Education

Character Education - Book of the Month, 2014-2015

This is a literacy-based program that will focus on one to two character traits each month throughout the school, K-8.  Many of the traits are 21st Century Skills – empathy, compassion, responsibility and team work.  This will not only build community, but it will also provide staff (and parents) with a common language to build positive character traits in our students.   A picture book was thoughtfully selected for each month’s trait by Jenny Davidson and Mike Anderson.  The book will exemplify the focus trait. Teachers K-8 will read the book aloud and lead a discussion about the importance of character. You are welcome to join in with our character education traits at home!

Thank you to the Blaine PTA for funding a book per grade level for every trait.  We are working on additional grant money to hopefully provide every classroom with their own book each month.
